Financial Planning

We make plans for clients. Tell us what you’re trying to achieve and we’ll show you different ways of getting there. This is both an art and a science. Maria Diaz, our Certified Financial Planner, is the main driver of this service. In most cases, we need to “dive deep” and explore your expenses, the choices you make, and how they impact your goals. If there is more than one entity (like a corporation), we need to make sure you are using it in the most tax-efficient way. We also use outside consultants in some cases, including the Wealth Planning Team of Assante Private Client, a division of CI Private Counsel LP, independent accountants, and lawyers etc.

Investment Advice

Jay has been talking to clients about investments for more than 20 years. Over time, he’s seen the industry go from a commission-based, mutual fund world to what has become a fee-based, private pool or managed money era. The experience of having gone through the tech bubble, recessions, credit crisis, oil booms, etc., helps us provide sound advice through both good and bad markets.

Insurance – Health is Wealth

We firmly believe this, as we’ve witnessed several times in our experience as Advisors. We’ve seen clients’ wealth drop dramatically, not from market forces, but from the cost of care. We have clients who are “sandwiched” between caring for elderly parents and making sure their kids can get through university. Health is the greatest financial asset you have, and it needs to be protected. Whether that be Disability, Critical Illness, Long-Term Care or Life insurance, we need to address your greatest risk as part of any plan.

Many clients come to us through our partners. We add our expertise in specific areas, like insurance. We partner with other Financial Advisors, including the Wealth Planning team of Assante Private Client, a division of CI Private Counsel LP, to make sure their clients have fully explored insurance, both to cover the traditional risks, like death and illness, but also to use it as a tax savings vehicle or to efficiently shelter corporate dollars, etc.
